hello i have a question
both me and my friend have 660fm units
mine has v9 maps and his has 2008 v10 maps
now my question is this can i clear the maps on my unit and copy his info??

will this work?

i have checked garmin and it states new maps available for me £60, which i find a bit steep as i only had the unit from november so map updates every year make it an expensive unit....

the next question is if i purchase the new maps on sd card can i copy them to the unit as i use my sd card for music??

any help and info
thanks in advance
d.

Yes.

Or just stick with the v9 until the v11 come out. Whilst the maps are upgraded every year and they state something like 15% of roads are changed no map is 100% accurate and never will be. Depending on how you use the unit you may be no better off than you where on the v9 maps.

I do a lot of driving within 20 miles of my home. I'm still on the v8 maps and with the exception of a couple of roads i hardly use the maps are still great. I'm currently considering if to buy the v10 maps or get a new 7xx unit or even wait for the 8xx units....

I'll bet if you run the v9 and v10 maps together in the same car you'll be hard pushed to find a difference, and even if you did I'll bet it's not a major one...

good advice there
you are probably right, an upgrade every 2 years might be the way to go.
as you state every where i have been of late my unit has got me there every time with no fuss.

quick question: how often did you buy new paper maps? before we got our first sat nav we were using a 4year old paper map and had no problems...
