Greetings all.

My PDA reset itself and I lost all it's settings (all the data was backed up via active sync though). Having reinstalled TomTom Navigator 3 from the CD, activated it, I can's get the GPS to get my location.

O2 XDA IIi
Powered car cradle with the TomTom wired receiver pluged in
Navigator 3

Before the reset everything was working fine. There was not problem reinstalling TomTom

On the GPS settings screen, I have a number of options:
Simulator
TomTom Navigator GPS
TomTom Wireless GPS
TomTom GPS (IPAQ Sleve)
etc

The the following:
Infrared port
COM9
COM4
Seial cable on COM1
Bluetooth...

I've tried different combinations of the TonTon's and COM's but with no result, oh, and yes, I did dick the little box.

Any help on determining the correct setting would really be appreciated.

Oh, and yes, I did try the search tool, but maybe I need a little more practice to fine tune a pertinent result.

Lawrence

you need to use tomtom wired receiver

comport 1

baud rate 4800 if the option is there if its not dont worry)

then come out of the tomtom application and to go to the start menu

then select settings

you will now see three tabs at the bottom of the screen select conections

then connections again

then select irda beam
on the screen you now see receive all incomeing beams make sure there is no check next to this then exit and restart tomtom it should now work

I think that will be the solution as I recall it from when I changed from the XDA to the IIi

Having unchecked receive beams, then selection TomTom GPS on COM1 it is now not telling me that it does not exist.

Confidence is high

Cheers
