Hi Folks
After giving the upgraded map a good testing, I find the TT5 updated map of Western Europe a huge success.
Its nice to see the seamless European mainland now on the map and to have the Republic Of Ireland included too is a bonus (not before time).
I have in the past been lost in Dublin and know only too well the difficulties of finding ones way back to the desired route. But last week with Tomtom showing me the way to navigate in Dublin and the surrounding area all worked like a charm. The same goes for France too.
Does it show all new roads? Well, just remember, no map (like the wiring in one’s house) can ever be completely up-to-date. But taking things all round I think that the new map does pretty well and personally I haven’t seen a better navigation programme. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Trevor,
Agree with your comments. as a regular traveller in Europe I stuck with Destinator PN and 6 because the idea of loading maps for the destination country and all the messing about seemed unecessary (and was a unique feature to Destinator for a while I believe). With the drop in price of SD cards, the competitive pricing of European TomTom along with improvements in the maps (especially the ridiculous Ireland issue) TT now seems more complete. As the issues have certainly been addressed in TTN6 I would stick my neck out and say that TomTom is currently the best all round package for navving around Europe. With the addition of the Home installation option (albeit with a few quirks) and details such as the arrival time option, current speed versus limit and decent maps it's a painless experience. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

Hi jimbo_hippo
Yes, I go to Ireland quite often and have made frequent mistakes in Dublin. It always seemed so ridicules that I could use Tomtom all across England yet once I left the Ferry at Dublin I was back to balancing a paper map on my knee.
However, Tomtom is a vast improvement on maps and printed directions and only a few years ago even ‘Q’ couldn’t give James Bond such electronic wizardry. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.
