Just got my brand new GM270 CF including patch aerial for £57 from Singapore off Ebay, (arrived within 4 working days too so i was pretty impressed).

Can anyone tell me what the Power Save and WAAS/EGNOS settings are in GPS viewer that comes with it and how would i enable them?

Its far superior to my Rikaline X7 and it seems to work a lot better than my Haicom 303Evermore MMF in the car.

The power saver enables the receiver only for a certain part of the 1 second cycle. For example if you set it to 200 ms, then it wakes up, tries to acquire the signals and send them through the serial line (emulated in the CF) and after 200 ms cuts power to the GPS circuitry. Then sleeps for 800 ms, and then repeats the cycle. You save some energy, but you may lose some signals - try it our.

WAAS/EGNOS is the differential GPS that is supposed to further enhance the position accurateness (decrease the DOP) It's a nice to have thing, not absolutely required in street navigation.

Most of the newer receivers can be programmed with the Emtac CruxView program, but yours may also have come with its own setup program (the "Viewer"?) where you can adjust these settings and check the current status.
