Garmin 660 with FM transmitter to be legal soon?

The Garmin Nuvi 660 is sold in the UK without the FM bit as it's illegal. But from 8th Dec it won't be illegal to use it? See http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=49019. Does that mean Garmin will supply the ones like they sell in the US?

depends if it's physically present or not. if it's physically present but turned off via firmware then they can just release a firmware upgrade to turn it on.

Garmin do not provide the FM transmitter functionality on any European 660s, irrespective of the legal status in each country.

Garmin have also implied it can't be simply turned on (although whether that's true I don't know).

Remember Garmin will have planned the development of the unit a while ago, when it was illegal, and any thoughts on changing that will not materialise until after the change in law.

Basically, don't buy a 660 on the basis that it might one day have the facility.
