speed cameras on garmin c510 deluxe

can anyone help. i downloaded the speed camera database(the gpx file) and loaded it onto my sat nav with garmin poi loader. it does not let me know when ther are speed cameras. have i downloaded the correct database? or how do i set this up.
help would be appriciated

I suggest you join gps pocket world and subscribe about £20 per year for camera downloads. Then go to 'log in', then 'speed cameras' then select 'download the database' choose a satnav system (garmin) then choose 'UK-POI loader i3, nuvi etc'. follow the instructions. I have found this database excellent. the files are csv (comma separated values) type.

Sometimes the speed cameras are only notified by a red banner along top of c510 screen with '50mph speed limit warning' or similar and an 'bonging' attention tone (which slows down as your speed drops).

are your 'custom poi's' turned on? go to tools (spanner icon) and scroll down to 'proximity points', press icon to access 'proximity alerts', press change and make sure 'custom poi's' box is checked (press box to toggle between tick (on) and blank box (off).
