Switching between day/night mode unexpectedly

I've set up my 910 so that it switches to night mode when it's dark, and back to day mode when it's light.

This has been working fine for ages, but recently it's started switching back to day mode for no obvious reason while I'm driving along in the dark at night. This is not due to suddenly driving through a lit up area - it can happen when it's pitch black.

The recent software upgrade seemed have fixed it for a while, but now it's started happening again. I suspect that this had nothing to do with the new software level - that this was just a coincidence.

Another thought I had is that if there's a problem with the quality of the contacts in the mount, that the 910 is sometimes being fooled into thinking that it's been taken off the mount, causing it to switch into day mode.

Any ideas or similar experiences?
