I got TT6 as an early Christmas present on Thursday and not having read all the literature before hand I thought it would be dead easy to install just like TT3 and TT5 were. How wrong could I be? Very it would seem. I looked at the manual after a time and was still very confused, it would have been simple if TT had told me to delete TT5 from my iPAQ and storage cards first but of course they didn't and I didn't see any reference to doing that on this forum either but it occupied my time for a few hours before working it out for myself.

Anyway, all is now sorted and I just hope that all those new roads I've been driving along in recent times are on the maps although I gather the new A1 stretch in West Yorkshire is a complete cock up, lets hope we get a free update for things like that.

Glad you got it sorted , now after all that blood sweat and tears you will fully appreciate it. If it was too simple you would just take it for granted 8O

Free updates are normally to sort cockups(bugs) in the software . The maps dont come included in that Twisted Evil

Why should they offer an upgrade...you buy a road atlas in Smiths, and that's it...why should GPS be any different ?

The main difference is that there are many parts buiding up to using your TT6.
The software written by Tomtom

The GPS made by many people

The mapping done by one of two companies (not TomTom)

The satelites

I think the right way to put it is that TomTom buy the licence to distribute the mapping . 1 licence per customer so upgrading the maps cost them another licence .

If you have ever used OS mapping you know how tight the licencing can be. Exclamation
