Today my web updater was updated with the latest update ,now these things from Garmin do tend to work straight off first time , but not this time .

It cannot update my 2720 as gmnusb.sys is not available . Ok I thought I will update my usb drivers . Wrong same error .

So its on the phone to support tomorrow Rolling Eyes

Iv'e found all these recent updates from Garmin a bit weird, I have updated twice recently and additionally found yesterday that bluetooth had totally packed up so did a hard reset and updated that as well. Now that makes three updates in two weeks - all were successful.

Now I know it is not that I'm clever, as there are many experienced out like yourself who are struggling, one recent thread alone is on ten pages just for the Nuvi - GTM V4 update, so why is it that some units are more temperamental than others?

To be fair, the 10 page GTM v4 thread is about problems with the traffic service, not about errors in applying the firmware itself.

OK, point taken, but it does seem that some of these Sat Navs seem to be more temperamental than others, whether its not receiving data or loosing files, I'm just wondering as to - why!

My Sat Nav is new and nursed like a baby, not been knocked, or left in any damp or heat, are the problems due to general wear and tear (after all it is a computer) maybe we have to care for them more.
I was trying to think as to why the files could be missing or even corrupted.

There are still many on those ten pages having trouble with TMC reception, is it the update or just a bad aerial. I'm lucky as since the update, most of the time I am getting good reception, with loads of info, despite the aerial laying loose on the back of the dashboard.
I do know however that this isn't perfect as it has it's "off" days, I'm also looking to "boost" the aerial, whether that is the answer I don't know, but I will try it.
Maybe a lot of this is due to the where abouts we are in relation to an transmitter, but it would be interesting to see why this is happening, to avoid it in the future - so I'm just trying to look for a reason.

Trust me, it's generally a problem with the TMC service - the TomTom equivalent thread is up to 18 pages, and the Navman thread is getting quite long too Smile However, Garmin did themselves no favours when (for certain users in certain circumstances) v3.90 made traffic stop working altogether.
