Hi everyone, this is my first post and I am hoping somebody could please help me with a problem I am having with my 510 Crying or Very sad
This is the second unit I have had this problem with as the first one was kindly replaced by Argos.
Basically I went for a trip last week and the 510 worked perfectly until I took it out as I was leaving the car for a while. I left the Tom Tom in the cradle and removed the whole lot as I dont like removing it from the cradle unless I have to as I feel the connections are pretty weak.
When I returned to the car the tom tom refused to turn on but the green light was lit. I repeatedly tried to turn it on throughout the journey without success, I also removed and refitted it to the cradle a couple of times.
When I got home I attempted to reset it with a pin, after several attempts it fired into life and has been fine ever since Question
One thing I am suspicious about is a possible clash or incompatibillity issue with my Motorolla V3. The handsfree works ok but the tom tom says it doesn't support text messaging with this phone, however when the tom tom started working again several messages I was sent during a journey the previous week came through on the tom tom Question This made me wonder if this was related to the powering up problem Question Question
Argos are prepared to change the unit but I dont know if it is worth it as this problem has already happened twice and may not be down to a fault with the unit.
Thanks for any advice
Dan

Welcome

ScoobyDan, Its not a stupid question, but how long are you holding the power button down for?
You need to hold it for about 1.5 to 2 seconds.

Cheers
Paul

Thanks Paul, I was holding the button for a few seconds Smile Seems strange that I have had the problem with two 510's but after searching on here I cant find anyone else with the same problem. I still suspect it might be related to the phone, I have disabled the bluetooth on the phone and it seems to be behaving itself now.....pity as one of the reasons I chose the 510 was because of the handsfree Rolling Eyes

Okay,

My second question from the ministry of the bleeding obvious is the phone on the compatable list from TomTom?

I've had my 510 since early September and had to reset it using the pin method twice within the first week. Like you it just would not start. Since then I have had no problems. The green light on the unit will be there as long as it is on the mount and the mount is plugged into the cigar lighter. I don't think you have a problem with your phone, it would probably behave itself anyway.
