Hello all, thanks to Dave and others i have finally got the swing of this Nav/PDA/GPS thingy. Does'nt have the A6 Rushden bypass on though so journey to work is a little confusing.!!
I have added checkpoint and speed cameras and was wondering if anyone has any suitable .Wav files of a warning to share, the voice of Kylie would be nice but any will do.
I cant seam to record *.wav files on my PDA, is there any software out there!
Cheers

I made some on there, but they came out VERY quiet!
Can anyone recommend suitable settings for pda? or perhaps some way of making them louder? |

Not a lot of people know this, but if you run up SoundRec.exe on the PC you can open the WAV file, and then keep increasing the volume until it's loud enough. If you do it too much it will sound okay on the PC but distorted on some Pocket PC's, so it may take a bit of twiddling with. |

I have also been trying this without any success.
Where did you put the .wav files.
I have tried My Directory as GPS Assist suggests and also Programs/GPSassist/ which is where the default files seem to be.
The files show but will not play.
Any ideas please. |

From recollection, there are two types of wav files, there is the one saying speed camera ahead, which I used to put in My Documents and point GPSAssist to use this Wav file. The other was somethimg like "Asheraslut", which was basically you are over the speed limit. This was a hard coded Wav file and sits in the GPSAssist directory and needs to be replaced with a file with the same name.
If it's not playing, I would try tapping on it in Explorer on the Pocket PC and see if it plays, it maybe that it's not a Wav file you have, or it's corrupted. |

Being new to the gps scene, i have found the forum and all the articles in them a great help, i am sure that without this site and the people who reply to the questions posted, we would all be spending alot more time, trying to suss out the little bugs that crop up, when using something new.
Keep up the good work.
Noj. |

Thanks Noj and Peter, we try to give out as much information regarding GPS as possible to everyone reading the website and forums. All information we give is factual and we're not biased in anyway towards one manufacturer or retailer. This we hope (and no) brings the site you see before you today 8) |
