In my experience - WAIT! I have the same kit as you and TTN2 GB just doesn't work at the moment with the 3970. I've gone back to TTN1.

I'll second that I have major problems on my 3950.

I'm in exactly the same position as PJM3. But how long should I wait, and what should I wait for?

I've just bought the ipaq 3970, Emtac BTGPS, and am awaiting TTN2 (should arrive tomorrow), so I don't have another version of TTN to fall back on.

Hi Aero,

I am in the same position as you expecting a delivery any time soon. Beginning to think I made a mistake ordering TTN 2 - perhaps I should have paid the extra and bought VDO - this seems to work well on my Jaguar with none of the above faults but from the same maps.

Best of luck

Nigel

I hope that TomTom sort this out soon. I have filled in the support form at their web site, but no response (yet). If I don't hear anything soon, I will phone them. Some kind of acknowledgement of the problems would be welcome, at the very least, IMHO.

I'm relieved it's the software at fault. The two most expensive items I've bought seem to be working well.

I also believe TomTom will sort this out, but when? What do I do in the meantime? I'd like to play with my new toys y'know!

I'm glad I've found this site. Don't know how I would have coped otherwise. I guess that's a big thank you to everyone contributing to these forums - thanks guys

Guys, just as a matter of test, most of you have the BTGPS and a 39xx, have you tried selecting NMEA 4800 and the COM port you have setup to use as Bluetooth ? I'm wondering if this is an inherent problem in the Emtac driver, or TTNav2 in general ?

You know from the other post that I can't even fire up Nav2? I tried changing the GPS driver settings, even using the Simulator (the first one at the top), but it makes no difference.

Dave

It seems to make no difference whether it's NMEA 4800 + COM or the Emtac Wireless driver on my setup (3970 + Emtrac BTGPS). Still unstable.

FAVOURITES

I can set a favourite if I use a find address and then select 'add as favourite' on the menu. This works every time. If I try and add as favourite by selecting directly on the map, it sometimes works. However, if I try to 'Navigate To' a favourite, it's 'goodbye TTN2'.

POSTCODE SEARCH

As for postcode search (!), try this address (I was looking for it this morning):

Enter City: Aintree     TomTom: Aintree (Sefton)

Enter Postcode: L30     TomTom: lists streets beginning with L only

I'm looking for Heysham Road - it's not listed by postcode search, so

Enter Street: Heysham Road     TomTom: Heysham Road L30

Go figure! Laughing Out Loud

No use whatsoever.

Testing continues...

Well, I've just arrived back from my journey to Heysham Road, using TTN2. I drove there using NMEA 4800 settings and back using Emtac Wireless GPS settings. No difference in operation.

I was unable to use the 'Navigate To' function on the Navigator screen. This button just caused TTN2 to hang then disappear. The same with Alternate Route. The only way of entering a destination was from the map screen using the 'find address' button.

The actual navigation was ok and didn't crash during the journey (as long as I didn't touch anything). However, if I selected and options on the Navigator screen, TTN2 crashed.

I also tried navigating to a POI petrol station (Morissons Supermarket in St Helens), but the location was inaccurate! I ended up about half a mile away!!
