Hey all, this is probably an easy to answer question (Or so I hope).
I recently transitioned from my trusty Palm Tungsten E2 to a Palm Treo 650. One problem I ran into was that my Treo 650 will turn off within 3 minutes while using TomTom Navigator 5 when I do not touch it. I know this is a power saving preference. When I used the Tungsten E2 there is an option to keep the pda on when it's plugged in, so that was what I was doing, plugging the pda into my car charger so tomtom would be able to stay on. But with the Treo 650 the option is not there under Power.
Is there anything I can do to keep my Treo from falling asleep while I use tomtom?
Thanks in advance!!! |

Hi Jay
Curious - I've owned plenty of palms in the past, and the 'always on when in cradle' power management option isn't in the Power Prefs of my 650 where I'd expect it (and where the manual says it is - perhaps it's an Orange thing to mess around [not for the first time!]!)
When I added Nav 5 to my 650, I didn't need to change any device settings (and I have never switched on any 'always stay powered up' option).
What I do find is that my 650 will auto-off after the preset time UNLESS my Bluetooth receiver is locked to satellites. This is a nuisance when searching for a fix, as I often find I switch off a couple of times before I get the lock. Once it's locked, it never switches off. Incidentally, not sure if this has any effect, but TT advise always to use the Prefs/Switch off means of ending a Nav 5 session, not simply switching back to the launcher.
Good luck and if you find anything, please let others know by posting here! _________________ iPhone 4/4S (iOS 5.1.1); TomTom Western Europe (1.10)/USA & Canada (1.10); CoPilot for iPhone (8), UK mapping, Mac OS 10.8/XP Pro/Win7; Tongue firmly in cheek! |

well I'll be darned. After I pair it up with my gps receiver it doesn't fall asleep!
Strange because it does for my Tungsten E2 even when it's paired... Perhaps TomTom's software didn't take the E2 into consideration..
Thanks alot for your help! |
