Garmin i3 malfunction

Loaded the latest MaFt and speed camera data last night: since then the blue opening screen comes on and won't disappear. I can make the i3 work if I do the following: switch off, remove data card, switch on, normal opening message and press thumbwheel message comes up and then I am asked to insert card. Upon insertion it usually behaves normally . . until I switch off and switch on again.

Is there a simple cure, or is it back to Maplins? Bought December 2005.

Exactly same thing happened to me on Thursday whilst uploading the same files. I tried resetting unit to factory defaults but it still wouldn't work.
I eventually put the TF card in a card reader & connected it up to pc & discovered that it had loaded the new files alongside the old ones without deleting them so the POI directory must have been to large. I deleted the POI file on the card & then reloaded a backup copy I had made sometime ago when I was playing with the voice files & everything now works fine again.
Have updated with latest updates again & all ok...
