Not impossible to do but you would require two applications (Memory Map for the OS maps and track recorder, can even do heart rate if you are training when used in conjunction with a suitable monitor) plus a car based sat nav product, read around the forum to find out what best suits your needs, TomTom, I-Go, Route 66, Destinator etc these applications would have to co-exist on a PDA so you need one of these, plus a GPS unit SiRF-III equipped (its not bothering with the cheaper units these days IMHO), GPS should be bluetooth (as you are cycling/ walking) and a mount to hold the device down.

One last thing with a PDA you need to "share" the GPS signal between applications so have a look at Fransons GPS Gate application.

Set up correctly you can have the Sat nav software providing the route instructions whilst viewing an OS map, at the same listening to an mp3 - this is going to demand a fair bit of processor speed so go with a fast unit, the cheaper ones simply will not do all this.

As for loading maps, the Sat Nav applications generally come with full UK (or Europe depending on what you want), the OS maps need to be loaded in smaller "chunks" the entire UK at 1:50,000 scale is a few GB in size terms, but I find its OK to load up the areas of interest before a trip - Mike
