For the first time I have no problems with my Tomtom on my XDA, however I still need help.
My fiancees dad has just got a HP Ipaq. It has a program called GPS Naviator (which works identically to Tomtom, so I assume it is Tomtom)
The problem is, and I am sorry if I am doing something wrong, is that he only has one city map installed and wants the Great Britian maps. They are 100mbs and his phone only has about 20mbs free. I have copied them to the memory card but the program will not find them.
Hope I am not being stupid and look forward to your replies _________________ Tcepser

If you are trying to load YOUR GB map onto your fianncee's father's machine then it won't work and it is also illegal. He needs to buy his own set that will come with a product code. _________________ Peter

My apologies, they are maps that I have. I didnt realise it was illegal to use maps that I have purchased already. _________________ Tcepser

You cannot simply copy maps in this way, it is against the rules, if you need to put new or different maps onto a device they need to be purchased from tomtoms web site (have a look in the PLUS services section) you will find loads listed - Mike |

Tcepser,
You don't buy the maps, you only buy a licence to use them. That licence is governed by the End User Licence Agreement (EULA) between you and Tom Tom. It only allows you to install the maps on one sat nav unit. If you want it on a second one you have to buy a second copy in exactly the same way as if you want Windows on a second PC you have to buy a second copy of that too. _________________ Peter

I have an Ipaq 6915 with that version of TomTom Navigator (it's actually version 5.300). I downloaded the GB map from the Plus services on TomTom's site, having installed first the free city map. It works just fine on my miniSD card. I did have to enter the Ipaq's unique hardware identifier to purchase the maps - so I think the software is tied to the actual device. There is a good offer for Ipaq owners on maps of Western Europe here: http://www.ipaqchoice.com/productinfo.aspx?catid=98&id=1291 for £70. I paid £40 for GB, but I didn't need Europe maps just yet and new maps are just around the corner apparently (in fact TomTom advised I waited!)
Cheers

I'm still waiting to get the truth, the whole truth & nothing but the truth - about the loch ness monster... [sits twiddling thumbs] The existence of TTN 6 might just be harder to prove!
P.S. Is everyone here an off-duty cop or something? Every other topic is someone trying to deprive TT of their hard earned (!) $$$ followed by approx. 100 of the most puritanical replies ever.
Can't we put a sticky atop the forum stating the existence of the GPS police and leave it at that? The sentiment of the posts is fine, but the delivery is SO predictable! This is fast becoming the unfriendliest place on the net!!
P.P.S. Call me mischievous, but I'd LOVE to do a software audit on everyone's compy!

Maybe if certain people don't toady to TomTom they won't get pre-release toys to play with? Sorry I meant alpha test the products that will be beta tested by the general public once launched.
