I am sure if I search long enough I will find it but after 30mins I havent so, does anyone know off the top of their head what bluetooth GPS is included in TTN2 Bluetooth pack? I am considering getting one for my Mum for Xmas and there seems to be a good deal at Dixons at the moment. TTN2 bluetooth plus IPAQ1940 for £499.

What I want to know is whether you run the GPS receiver off cig lighter or separate batteries?

The Bluetooth GPS is TomTom's own one which was commissioned and built by LeadTek under design specifications from TomTom.

All Bluetooth GPS Receivers have their own battery that will last for up to 6 hours, and you charge thsi via a cable like you do a mobile phone. Some will give you an in-car charger cable, some a mains charger cable, some both.

So does TT N2 have an in car charger?

Can you charge it up in the car, whilst using it?

Aha thanks for that.

The main advantage of bluetooth seems to be the reduction in wires but you need to be organised to have it charged and ready when you need to use it, or wire in teh docking station and charge it whilst using it.

I think it all looks a bit complex for my mum, she would be better off with the normal TTN2 wired into her car I think.

Shame that isnt as cheap a deal as the Dixons offer!

Does she have a mobile phone ? If so charging a Bluetooth Receiver is really just like charging a mobile phone. It has about the same battery usage, it's just getting into a habit of charging it say at night, or when you get into the office.

I like Bluetooth Receivers, but with all the tech gear I have, I use about 20 power sockets in my office (and there still aren't enough!), so charging a BT GPS is something I forget to do regularly.

You don't have to use the TomTom docking station, it will sit there quite happily on the dashboard without the need for the docking station, or a power cable, this is how most people use it.
