Hi Looking for some advise, I have just got a used car which has a garmin quest 1 unit hard wired in to it. It is a nice sat nav unit now I know how to work it! but I really wanted a sat nav unit that also covered speed cams as well. I understand from reading this site that due to the small memory in this unit this is not possible. So a few questions if thats ok! Why is the quest so expensive? Do members think I would be as well selling this unit second hand , say ebay £150 or so and then getting a street pilot C320 for not much more? or is that a real backward step? I guess a quest 2 would be the true best option but again the cost is very high. Changing to a c320 would I loose any benifits of the quest? Thanks a lot everyone for taking the time to read this and any advice is great.

Kenny

PS anyone want to buy a quest 1 or swop for a quest 2 or even a c320!! Confused

The Quest is waterproof, has a longer battery life and works well for boating/flying/hiking etc. I think the C320 is more of a street navigation and lacks some of the off road features of the Quest.

The C320 has a touch screen though which makes address input much easier than the Quest so it's probably a better unit.

The Quest is expensive because it's a relatively old unit (18 months ago sat nav prices were a lot higher) and the prices have never really come down that much even though there are probably other Garmin units which are better.

As far as I know the Quest 1 and 2 share the same hardware platform but the Q2 has more memory and different firmware supporting the POI loader which is not supported on the Quest 1. I can't see any good reason why Garmin don't retrofit the POI loader functionality to the Quest 1, maybe it's just a marketing decision.
