I have a Garmin 310 D (Unique to Halfords) and have downloaded the camera database and driving out of Leeds today on the A 65 where there are many cameras I was not given any warnings. When I got home tonight I connected the Garmin via USB to my PC and it shows that the database looks like it is installed.
Is there something I need to activate on the Garmin?
This is all new to me so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Rog.

Hi Rog,
Sounds as if you have loaded the database OK, but either were not exceeding (or closely approaching) the speed limit - in which case the cameras & warnings will not show OR you have peculiar speed / warning distances loaded. You can check the POI database on your PC and determine if the camera data you have does contain speed/distance settings.
(Take a look through the beginners forum and there are several explainations as to how to do this - if you are unsure.)
Regards,
Ron

Ron,
Thanks for your reply, I will check this out.
I have read somewhere that you can set your distances before a camera point but havn,t found out how to do that yet.
Any way I will take a look on the forums. The site is so big it can take a while to find your way around.
Thanks again
Rog.

I have the opposite problem.

I would say three out of every four camera it warns me about simply aren't there!

TBH, I find the database a bit pointless because of this. I do not mean to criticise anyone who works on it as I'm sure it is a lot of hard work -

Hi

Is it possible on the 310D to fix the speed camera warnings to be in mph but still use m/km for navigation? I have spent a while trying to figure this out, the speed camera data is in mph so it must be the nuvi software that does the translation to kph depending upon the choice in the locale settings menu.

Posted this query on another thread last week but no response...guess it's something Garmin could rectify in an update but there is v. probably limited demand for this outside the UK! Any suggestions?

Thanks - Nick

Gibb,

I presume the non-existent cameras you are being warned about were mobile sites.
If so, because of the frequency of the warnings I also found them to become largely ineffective.See my ' Are Mobile Camera Warnings Effective/Useful ??' thread in the Pocket GPS Speed Camera forum on this site.

For an easy solution, which you may want to try, I simple deleted all the mobile site files from the database before uploading to the Nuvi.

Although I obviously now run the risk of missing a mobile camera I feel the warnings of only verified fixed sites to be much more useful and effective.
