|
|
Hi,
Has anyone noticed that the streetname displayed at the bottom of the screen (statusbar) on a Tom Tom One is out of sync with the actual street you are on ?
if i use my tomtom one without a route defined, then it displays the correct street name - i.e. the street that i'm currently on.
if i use the tomtom one with a route defined, it almost always displays the next street and not the current street.
i have contacted tomtom 3 times now and they just say that its a mapping error ? - i dont think so ! _________________ MadGreek

thats a little confusing because in the preferences / status bar preferences screen it says
"Show on status bar:" - "Street name"
and on a different screen (Name preferences) it has a "Show next motorway" option - which shows the next motorway at the top of the screen.
i thought it was a bug of some sort.
oh well - thanks for your response. _________________ MadGreek

Thanks
i would be a good feature though - displaying current road name whilst navigating to...
for example, i recently moved to Nottingham and when i want to get somewhere in Nottingham i use my tomtom. If it displayed the current road then i could learn the road names.
i'll send this to tomtom
thanks. _________________ MadGreek

I have to say I saw this, this morning whilst driving down the A421 heading towards the M1.
I would expect either the top or bottom of the screen to display the next road, and the other to display the road I'm currently travelling along. Unfortunately both the top and bottom were showing M1, no mention of the A421, I was 4 miles away from the M1 so something is wrong. |

IIRC then one banner shows your next road and the other shows your next MAJOR road so they are often the same. _________________ Tim |

You might "expect it" but thats not how it works if you have a route planned. It works as described by alex776 in the second post. Whether thats good design or not is another matter!

Having the option of "Now" or "Next" (or even both, scrolling?) has been on the 'new features' wishlist for as long as I remember. I also emailed TT about it direct at least twice in the early days after I bought my unit.
However, a really useful and simple thing to implement like this doesn't get done because they are too busy turning the Go into an mp3 player....

I think this is the most important fact to be gleaned..... for the umpteenth time, a punter has asked advice from TomTom "technical support" and been given totally wrong information (I'm especially thinking of recent discussions on the forums where TomTom have told people:
1) that the auto-power off function must be a fault with the unit, and
2) that installing the individual Plus maps from the Western Europe CDs will somehow all link up to give seamless street-level mapping). |
