I am at a total loss with this. When i first got my i3 I installed the speed cameras and POI's and everything worked ok. When I updated it, the speed cameras have not worked since. I have reset the i3 several times and started again but still with no luck? Please, can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong? Just getting more and more confused about it.

Hi tj21,

Can you give us any more info, what have you upgraded to?, have you checked the speed cameras are on there? did you re-install the poi`s and speed cameras after upgrading? I take it you know that the speed camera`s poi`s will not actually do anything unless you go over the speed limit, when you will hear the "bongs". If you are under the speed limit you wont hear a thing.

The more info you can give the easier it will be for someone to answer your problem, not just on this problem but for any problem someone has.

Here endeth the first lesson....... Laughing

Regards.....Dil

Thank you for your reply. When I first got my i3 I installed the POI loader on computer, downloaded POI's and Speed Cameras (single file) everything worked ok. Then I got an email from Pocketgpsworld telling me there was an update on the speed cameras, so I installed the update and they haven't worked since?? I hope this helps.

Hi again tj,

Right,

1 :what software version are you on now. ( not that it matters just curious)

2 : Have you checked on the i3 if the poi`s for the speed camera`s are actually on there.

3 : I take it it was the april speed camera`s you installed.

Not beeing cheeky, but confirm the speed camera`s are on there please.

Thanks........Dil (where the hell is matb)

Thanks again. Yes it was April software I installed, that is when I got the i3. I have checked on i3 and speed cameras are there, but it doesn't seem to be recognising them. It used to warn me of speed cameras from about 50yds now it doesn't even at 10yds. I hope this is some help.

Evening all,

Now then tj, my speed cameras are on there aswell, but it only shouts at me when I am going too fast, if I am under the speed limit for that road , then I wont hear a thing, If I go over the limit then Gladys ( the i3 ) will start bonging all over the place. The other day I had it on going on the A55 a dual carriageway, I hadnt heard any bongs in ages and wondered if they were working, so I speeded up to around 74 ish (matb is watching ssh ) and we were bonging again..

Hope this is of some use to you, failing that you will have to be more specific.

Regards....Dil

dil,

help me out here aswell.
i have tweaked my cameras so not sure about what will happen with what i suggest next.
if you simulate a journey, with an unaltered database, that passes a camera site does it still warn you ?

if it does then tj try a simulated run and see what happens. if it bongs then it works.

Ok Driving finished simulating....i3 had stayed on previous location , which was llandudno yesterday, didnt put it on comming back home....so did a simulate from there and to "go home " got me onto the A55 and shortly after got a "Bong" 70mph ahead....so mine work.

Now cj, pick someone you know who lives a few miles from you, where there are cameras / locations on the route, put their postcode in and if indoors it will say cant find satellite are you indoors, say yes, it will then ask do you want to simulate and you will say not now I`m tired, sorry wrong simulation....Doh....you click on yes, the it will simulate the drive for you and any cameras / speed limits it will bong.....god cj you`re hard work, I thought I was bad...

Regards....Dil

please do.
also had a thought, if you did a reset on the i3 check the settings have not changed ie ensure proximity alerts are enabled.

Sorry for the delay, the truth is tj does not have access to the internet and I am relaying the info for him. (yes, I am a woman which may account for the confusion!!) He has checked in custom points and it appears the cameras are there, it has 30-M, 60-G, 40-G, 40-M and 30-F followed by 4,5 and 6 digit numbers. Also looked in Settings and Attention Tone is ON. Unfortunately, still not getting alerts on known active cameras no matter what speed he approaches or drives past them????

Hi tj21 and " She who speaks for tj "

I think you will find that attention tones should be on "off". Go to settings ....navigation....turn attention tones to off. Then go down a bit to "proximity alerts" click on that and ensure that is "on" that is the setting to give you the camera warnings.

Did you do the "simulation " by any chance. Check the proximity setting and then run a simulation. If you get stuck , report back again.

Regards....Dil
