Hi,
I can confirm the problems with the subjected device:
When it arrived from retailer it did not install just by means of installing the drivers.
You also need to install the utility GPSinfo supplied on the disc.
Start the utility, do portscan to locate/identify the device.
Do "Coldstart" and start GPS. After this, you should be able to see the comunication with the GPS.
Close GPSinfo and start TT5. Now you should be able to use the GPS.
However, and this is quite important: If you have had your device unpowered for a couple of months you might run into the very same problem again, meaning TT5 will not be able to connect the the GPS.
The only way to solve the problem is to run GPSinfo and reinitiate the GPS.
Conclusionwise from this learning I have no other explanation to this than a built in (embedded in the GPS device) battery discharges after some time and drops the configuration data provided by the utility).
After you have got it working remember to do PDA backup ......
On the upside, once you got it working it is perfoming nicely and provides GPS tracking during difficult conditions (cities with high surrounding building, tunnels etc)
