|
|
Hi I'm new here so take it easy on me please. I have just bought an iCN 520 and have downloaded the UK speed cameras to it using the file which has all the cameras in it (mobile, specs etc) but I now notice you can download seperate files which shows the different kinds of cameras making it easier to tell them apart. Anyway I have downloaded the 2 files but one of them has 23 different files in it, so my question is do I then have to go through all the files and download them one at a time or is there a quicker way? Also I think I read somewhere that you can only load 25 POI's to the system, is this right or am I toatally wrong?
Sorry its a bit long winded but any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Hi,
I would guess that you've actually downloaded the "speed zoned" camera file which is no good for the 520 as I'm pretty sure the 520 only allows 16 active poi files. This camera set would require you to have 23 active poi files.
What you should download is the "consolidated by type" file which contains the 5 different types of cameras, all of which can be set as active on your 520
There are plenty of posts on this forum giving clear instructions on how to download the files to you icn - good luck _________________ tomtom one v2 - 7.162

Hi Geoff_UK
I can vouch for the fact that the 520 can only have 16 active POI's.
I had many an e mail and phone call to the tech support people (and a whole heap of posts on here) on this issue, as p.89 of the handbook says you can have 25.
Bookerman even thinks you can have 25, he must have read the same handbook as me.
Navman's excuse is that it's a memory problem, and the book is wrong.
They also told me that SP1 would solve this issue and it didn't. I think they were trying to get rid of me at this point as I'd been on their case for quite a while.
Memory my eye, I have now installed the 'other' software on mine and now have 39 active POI's. :D
Memory, yeah right oh,
They should try telling you the real reason is that their software is miles behind the competition. |

There is a lot of confusion regarding POI's. The reality is that you can load up to 25 POI's. These will show as icons on your maps in the same way as Navmans built in POI's. Of these 25 up to 16 can be set as active. This means that as well as the icon you can set a visual (in the tool bar as well as the icon on the map) and sound alert (double chime) when within a preset distance from the POI. Navmans manual is correct in that you can load up to 25 POI's but omits to mention that only 16 can be set as active. In conclusion Navmans manual is correct but incomplete.

Hi,
Ceejay, you wrote 'Memory my eye, I have now installed the 'other' software on mine and now have 39 active POI's. '
What is this other software? Have I missed something?
