512MB High Speed Card worse that 1GB Standard

Totally confused now.

I decided to check which speed card would match my Mio168. I found on their site it would accept 133x.

I purchased a 512MB Kingston Ultimate, transferred all files, (GB, Post Code, France plus and Safety Cameras) from my 1GB Kingston (standard) Card.

Gave it a test and found it took ages to lock on and when it does I get 4 or 5 sats.

Put the 1GB back in and lock came faster with 7 sats.

No, cant be!

Tried swapping cards and kept getting the same results.

Thinks! Maybe an error occured when copying over files, so formatted HS Card and installed from disks. Same results.

Could it be the High Speed card uses more memory? Just enough to mess up sat search and lock?

Cracked it!

Did a hard re-set. Re-installed TomTom 5.21

Formatted SD Cards and Added maps.

Tested again.

No real difference now in finding sats or lock ons with either card.

With the 133x the screen shows me passing a side road as I'm actually doing it, rather than slightly behind, and the final voice prompt before a turn comes maybe 10 yards before the junction, rather than at the junction. I'll be testing it on longer runs but so far so good.
