I bought my Mio A201 a few weeks ago and have basically given up using active-sync and bluetooth.
I have got it to work a few times, but suddenly stops working again.
What usually happens if after I pair my computer and PDA (using my passkey) it says that the connection can not be established.
Somehow I get the feeling I am not the only one with this problem.

The saga continues....
Called Mio today and spoke to support person about Bluetooth problem.
They seem to know about the BLUETOOTH problem already and seemed quite non fussed about it (why should they care - they already have our money!).
He stated that a patch was being written but had no idea when it would be available. On a positive note he logged my call onto his system and gave me a reference number.
I think it would be a good idea if as many people as possible contact them - may push them into some activity.

I will call them again in a few days time.
I do not undestand why there is no announcement or details about this problem on the Mio website. In fact, there is no support area for the A201. I actually asked the Mio technical support guy about this and he said it was because it was a new model.
I am quite annoyed as in essence they are selling a product which they know has a reproducable fault (no bluetooth and active sync possible) and not informing customers about it.... one would say they seem to be keeping it as quiet as possible.
In hindsight I am now wondering whether I should have bought the Fijitsu A520 (with built in wifi and bluetooth).

I have just received an e-mail fom Mio.............not much help, but at least they acknowledge there is a problem. What I find offputting is that there is no target date for a fix.
In the meantime they seem happy that people continue purchasing the A201 without being informing of the inherent problem. The attached PDF file contained some instructions in order to get the A201 to dial (I assume) via a mobile to the internet.

Please find attached the internet setting with a Bluetooth connection.
Mio, is currently working on a new 'rom' version that will stabilize the Bluetooth function in the A201. There is no target date set yet for the release of the new version.
Please check our website for the release of the patch.

xakou,
The weblink you placed in your post must be new --- there was no support section for the Mio A201 last week!!
Have no idea when the update/fix will be released ... i suspect not for a while!!
If/when I hear something I will post. I will call them every week or so till I get an answer!! ;-

Hi guys
i'm new here but i am really frustrated with the mio a201 bluetooth.
i just registered the mioa201.com domain and i plan to put a small site there to protest and press mio for a quick solution.
Site will be on by tuesday next week I hope. After it will be up I'll need to get it up on google so anybody who has site can help by linking to it.
Comsumer pressure works - so let me know what you think about this. |
