I don't have a Go 700 and I'm interested in how long does it take from a Go 700 to calculate a route, say from the city of Stockholm to the city of Gibraltar? Appreciate, if someone can help...

Thanks sgould!

I assume the calculation speed doesn't vary, if you are using a different firmware or older/newer map? Is there a difference maybe, if the POI's are turned off?

I think the calculation time is exponential or something.

Orig calc took over 5 mins for a journey timed at over 37 hours.

Re-did calc from my home (London) to Gibraltar and it took under 2 mins to calculate a journey of 25 hours.

Strange.....

In the interests of scientific research, I redid the Stockholm to Gib route right after the last calc and this time it only took 2 mins 15 secs.

Then I repeated the Home to Gib and it took 55 secs to calculate. Checked and it's the same route calculated each time.

All have been using "Fastest Route".

Is the GO storing maps in RAM?????
