|

I use TT5 on my PDA, but a colleague has just got a Go300 and is using it for the first time today.
He keeps phoning me saying that it keeps going off and he has to switch it on again. It then finds hime again and continues to navigate him, until it goes off again. (A bit vague, I know - he's not technically minded).
I'm sure it's not the safety screen as I set his map to stay on permanently in preferences.
Is there a power-save function with the GO that would switch it off after a period of time. I've downloaded the GO manual, but can't find anything in there.
My colleague is sure to ask me when he gets back to the office this afternoon, and I would like to have the answer for him.
Thanks for your help

The Go has a facility to switch the unit on and off in tandem with power being applied from the cigarette lighter adapter charger.
It could be that the charger is slightly wobbly in the socket? |

OK, so if it's running on battery, it will switch off to save power ?
But, if it's connected properly to the 12v cigarette lighter/adapter then it should stay on permanently ?
Have I got this right ?
Thanks

No, if you switch it on just on batteries it will stay on.
If you connect the cigarette lighter charger to the socket on the back of the Go itself, it will stay on (and charge).
If you connect the cigarette lighter charger to the socket on the back of the docking shoe, it will automatically turn on and off when the power goes on and off. This is obviously only useful if the power to the cigarette lighter is controlled by the ignition key.
So if the charger is loose in the socket it *may* be switching off automatically. |
