Hi all, i've just received my christmas present, the Navman 550.
I have the database downed on my pc, but couldn't find any instructions for adding it to my new toy?
Should i use the same guide as for the 520?
Any help would be very appreciated, many thanks |

I have one myself, but haven't actually put the cameras onto it yet. I imagine the setup procedure will be the same, and will confirm it within the next day or so, if you haven't got it sorted by then. _________________ Tim |

Ok, yes it all works fine, i installed using the asc files instead of the single file.
I'm well pleased with the 550, it has plenty of options, and so far so good |

Do you have the Traffic module? If so, how well does it work for you and what car do you use it in? _________________ Tim |

Hi there, no i don't have the Traffic module, as i already have traffic master in my car (Vectra) so i'm informed of any hold ups.
But i think when the subscription expires, it's about £28 a year, maybe i'll get the Traffic module, but i've heard they work very well, apart from the heated screen etc |

I got a 550 for Christmas too (with traffic module). I've found it to be quite useful. You can set in the preferences whether it just warns you that there's traffic problems on route (and offer an "AVOID" button to click on), or you can set it to automatically (silently) reroute around the traffic problem. I prefer the warning mode - it's a bit weird when you're driving a route and you're suddenly told to exit a road that you know forms a large part of your route. On one of the traffic screens you can see (and also choose) which radio station it's using to get its traffic notifications from. I'm using it right now in Germany and it's performing great. As far as I know, only UK, Germany and France are operating TMC. I managed to avoid a 50km (30miles) jam yesterday near Munich :-)
I'm in the process of adding the UK camera DB to my 550 right now, would love to know where to find the german DB too. Anyone know where it is ? |
