|
|
Does anyone use or can recommend a mounting bracket (for 510/520)which can be attached to the car facia panel as opposed to the standard windcsreen mounting? I believe it would cut down on reflections and make the screen more visible in bright conditions. Additionally, with all these car break-ins which are being reported, it would be obvious the vehicle has a GPS unit.
I see that Brodit and Arkon supply various mounting attachments but they tend to cater for PDA-style units which are unlikely to accomodate a ICN510. Any advice/recommendation would be appreciated.
thanks,

Brodit do clip for particular make of car and a specific holder for the icn 510/ 520
Works brilliantly in my car and allows the power cable from the cigarette lighter to be plugged / unplugged with ease . Thu unit can be removed from the holder still with power cable attached - which cannot be done with the supplied holder.
In my opinion much easier to see than when using the supplied holder

Peter - thanks for the quick response. That's exactly what I was looking for. I hope to place an order later today, once I have worked out where the best positioning will be—probably the 'angled' mount in my case because of the car.
Many thanks,

|

Here's what I did to fit the 510 mount onto the dash of my Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Source a model specific Mobile phone dash mount (available from many places on the inter net-just search for "dash mount"), remove icn mount from windscreen sucker mount, one self tapper through the central hole on dash mount screwed into centre of icn mount will hold it securely.
No reflections, perfect reception, and lead hidden behind dash trim makes it look quite proffesional.
Incidentally, other threads have commented on poor reception, I have usedmy icn510 sat on the passenger seat of a hire car and my wife's MX5 (tiny windows) with perfect reception. Perhaps I'm just lucky.
I have pictures of this mod but can't work out how to attach them! If anyone wants to see them, tell me how to do it and I gladly will.[/img] |

Cheers, appreciated. It throws the page out which is the only reason I ask
btw, what do you think of the Brodit mount? They're the best by a long way IMHO _________________ Darren Griffin |
