Hi I have had my Navman iCN 510 for about a year. It had been working great up until just recently when it got a little flakey> the screen would get dim at times but the other day it just stopped working (ie wouldnt turn on). When connected to a power source the light would turn amber or green but the unit itself wouldn't turn on. I tried:
- turn the battery switch on and off
- pressed the reset button
- held the home button down for six seconds
- help power and the down button down
Somehow it turned on-> I dont recall how it happened. I thought maybe I needed to recconnect the Navman to my computer- I asked it to update the software on the Navman and I loaded a fresh set of maps on a new SD card. (PS already running service pack 1). Then again it stopped working yesterday and I havent been able to figure out how to get it working agian (trying every little trick I know). Any auggestions or is my uni fried?

Chris

Chris - Whilst I don't know the answer to your problem, there have been somewhat similar problems posted in a GPS Forum some time ago - cannot remember which one. One was resolved when it was found that the power plug on the Device was faulty & the unit sent back to Navman for repair. Another was a dud battery which had to be replaced. The slow progress from normal operation does seem to indicate a failing power source or a dry joint somewhere.
When you say 'power source' is that the vehicle power or mains transformer? When connected to either, even switched off, does the green 'fully charged' light come on?
I presume you have removed the SD card, switched off the power and then restarted with a reload of the software?
If all else fails, try Navman's tech support - prefereably by phone as they take ages to respond to emails. Wink
