Just got myself a card reader/writer. I read somewhere here about defragging the card to get it to run a bit smoother. Will this work with the mmc card that came with the unit and is it recommended by anyone? |

The easist and possibly best way to approach this is to ensure that your unit and desktop sofyware are running the latest software.
Use the back up utility within the Navman desktop software, and backup all of your favourites and POI's.
Once done, use the card reader to copy your complete MMC card to a directory on your hard drive (suggest you call it something relevant as you will use it again from time to time).
Once every thing is copied across, format the MMC card with your card reader (use FAT32).
Copy all of your files from the hard drive back to the MMC card, and finally restore your favourites and POI files using the restore utility within the Navman desktop software. |

Could someone tell me where I can find the backup utility on SmartST v3 desktop that Dilemma mentions? I can't work out where it is and the manual fails to mention it. |

I've already used the backup/restore facility on Activesync so I guess that means I've done it? I've also made a full copy of the card to my hard drive so I guess if it all goes pear-shaped I can recover it all. |

...actually while I think about it, where are the Favourites stored? On the card or in the unit's own memory? |
