Palm TX @ TomTom

I’m about to buy (maybe) the Palm TX / TomTom bundle from Amazon. I know this comes with a SD card for the maps etc, as I already have a blank 512Mb SD card can I copy the entire TomTom application over to this card thus giving me more memory free, and if so is this legal? I will keep the original card, just in case. If this will work is it a simple copy from the original card to hard disk, then copy up to the new card, I only have one SD reader so can not do this directly.
