Navman ICN 510 and V3.5 maps

Just got my new maps from Navman, which I've carefully read the instructions and installed on a new SD card on the ICN 610.
It's taken overall about two hours (well, with a couple of breaks inbetween), but now when I switch on the ICN, I get the Navman SmartST screen with the car bonnet - but no maps appear to load, and then the screen changes to a computer and ICN icon with a USB cable stretching between the two.
I have checked on the ICN Desktop software and the maps are shown as loaded ok on the ICN (shown in yellow).
Can anyone advise what's wrong??
I have emailed Navman Tech support, but I don't suppose they work on Saturday, and there is no phone contact for them
