Hi all,
My apologies in advance if this is askng the same old question over again. I have had a browse and it is all a little confusing 8O ( I thought there would be a sticky)
I have my new Nokia 6680, GPS receiver and tom tom mobile 5 coming tomorrow (fingers crossed)
What software do I now need for POI (speed cameras mainly) so it is as up to date as possible. etc.
Any help would be appreciated.

hi and welcome
on this very sight at the top on the left look for GPS CENTRAL
you will find poi's and uk safety cameras there for down load
do have a look at the instructions they are straight forward
a piece of advice
when you recieve the card from tomtom back it up to your pc using a card reader make sure the hidden files are copied as well
then if a mistake is made you have a backup to reinstall without panic
when you have downloaded the safety camers database
you need to unpack the file and select the correct file which will be a ov2 type file you just then copy this to your map folder on the memorycard
then start tt on your phone and enable the pois for the speed cameras
hope this helps

Thanks.
Is there anyway you can sync a Nokia 6680 automatically evertime you connect it to the PC - similar to Activesync for PPC's
Just be easier than copying the ov2's over every now and then.
I know, I'm lazy |

I doubt it unless you unzip to a folder on your PC and then synch that with the phone. I wasn't sure if I had put the Sep database into my P910 so downloaded again, unzipped and cut n' pasted into the memory stick using my laptop's card reader. Sure enough, I had loaded the Sep version and so windows stated the same date for each file. Just pressed 'yes to all'.
Fairly easy!!! |
