Has anyone found a solution to connecting TTG 500 via bluetooth to the Sony Ericsson K750i yet??

I am having similar problems to other users I can pair the devices up but get no transfer of sound between the two.

Damn annoying seen as my old phone(which I sold on) worked perfectly with my TTG 500.

Hi all,

Yes I am having the same problem. I have a SE W800i with T-mobile in the USA, along with a TomTom Go 700.

They pair without problems.
I can dial a phone number from the TomTom without problems.
I can download the phone book into my TomTom without problems.

HOWEVER...
After establishing a call, I cannot get any audio on the TomTom, nor can they hear me.

With the W800i, once in a call you can hit the "More" option button, and then select "Transfer sound" option to send audio to the TomTom. However, even after doing this I get absolutely no sound. Worse, after selecting "Transfer Sound" the w800i is unable to re-establish a link with the TomTom ... not sure if the problem is with SE or TomTom.

I did find the email address of the TomTom USA President: Jocelyn.Vigreux@tomtom.com

I suggest we all email him and ask for help in resolving this issue, as TomTom support has never gotten back to me!

Here was what Sony-Ericsson has to say. Looks like the W800i support BT2 and maybe that's why we are having compatibility issues:

-----------------------------------------------------
Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Online Support.

There is no information in regards with the compatibility between Sony Ericsson
products and third-party products such as the TomTom Go 700. If you would like,
we recommend contacting TomTom to inquire if they are able to provide further
information on the compatibility between the TomTom Go 700 and the W800i.

We have provided the following Bluetooth specifications for the W800i to help
determine if the TomTom Go 700 Bluetooth specifications are similar. The W800i
is manufactured to meet Bluetooth Specification 2.0.

The following are the Bluetooth services supported:
- Dial-up Networking Profile
- Generic Access Profile
- Generic Object Exchange Profile Headset Profile
- Object Push Profile
- Serial Port Profile
- Synchronization Profile
- Basic Imaging Profile
- Handsfree Profile
- Headset Profile
- File Transfer Profile
- Human Interface Device (HID) Profile

If we can be of any assistance in the future please do not hesitate to call one
of our representatives at 1-866-SONY-ERICSSON(1-866-766-9374).

Best regards,

Jim

AND HERE WAS TOMTOM'S REPLY:

Bluetooth coding within each Bluetooth stack is different between devices and manufactures. Because of these differences, not all Bluetooth devices are compatible to connect to any other device using Bluetooth. The engineers in Amsterdam have tested this devices and it is not compatible. There are no specifics as to why. If you want a phone that is compatible, please stick to the compatibility list here: http://www.tomtom.com/products/section.php?ID=77&Section=107&Language=4. These are phones that are compatible and can support if you were to run into any configuration problems. If you have any further questions, please contact us.

Kind Regards,

TomTom USA Customer Service

Thanks for the extra input I have sent an email to Tom Tom in Europe to once and for all settle the question of compatibility between the TTG 500 and the SE K750i.
If the two devices are not compatible then I will have to look into replacing on or the other.

I also feel that if Tom Tom are to continue their current success in the Sat Nav market they are gonna have to be more on the ball with testing and staying in touch with the more current mobile phones available today and tomorrow.

Last rant honest! Twisted Evil

I bought the TTG 500 and spent extra cash for the bluetooth hands free calling feature (which I haven't been able to use yet) and could of bought just the TTG instead.!!!

Rant over feel better Laughing

I will post TOM TOM's reply asap or when they get back to me phew! zzzzz

I've just updated the K750i software (UK vodafone) to R1N035. Still doesn't work with my TTG500. :x

Long awaited reply from TOM TOM about SE K750i compatibility, answer still seems inconclusive Sad

All of the compatible tested phones that work with the TTGO 500/700 are listed here:

http://www.tomtom.com/products/section.php?ID=74¬&Section=108¬&Language=1¬&Tab=2

We do not know if your model of phone will work. If you are unable to connect manually then we can not assist you further. Ensure you have a GPRS contract and not a pay as you go GPRS subscription.

We are testing a multitude of new phones and we hope to add more models soon provided they pass our compatibility testing or we can 'possibly' make a particular phone model work with a software upgrade so keep an eye on our website in the weeks to come.

The most popular phone request we have is for the Sony-Ericsson K750i and we are currently testing this model but it appears in the latter part of our testing that the hands free part of the phone functionality will not work properly and we might not be able to make this work. It appears that Sony-Ericsson have decided to only make this model work only with their hands free kits. Please keep an eye on our website in the next few weeks.

The long journey of compatibility continues!
