I've just bought a Go 300 and playing with the PC I've managed to delete the UK map without making a backup! The map files don't seem to be on the CD and I can't find anywhere to download them!
Can anyone help please? |

Only other chance is to check your Trash folder. You could have copy in there. If not, TomTom are the only people who can help. |

I'm new to this game, but I think only the map you were issued with will work on your machine. If I am correct it is to prevent people from copying and distributing maps. |

As others have suggested, your only solution is to contact TomTom.
Only they can decide - once you've furnished your proof of purchase etc. - whether you are a genuine owner who has had an unfortunate accident or whether you have acquired a TTG which fell off the back of a lorry and are now trying to acquire some bootleg software to go with it. Providing you can convince them that you're in the first category, I'm sure that they'll be very helpful.
Getting a copy from another user is no good - because that will have been activated to work on their specific device - and won't work on yours. _________________ Roger

As you have a product code, a copy of a map that is covered by that product code will work. |

That's interesting! Are you sure?
I had always assumed that the product code was encrypted into the actual map file, and that the software used this, plus the device code, to calculate the Activation Code and compare with the code entered. Is this not how it works? If not, how does it work? _________________ Roger

Actually you can use a backup from wherewer you want.
Find a friend and copy the content on his card into your SD-card.
I have done this in simmilar cases with my own customers and it works great.
Remember that the activation happens with your productcode and a copy of the maps is no good without it.
The activationcode etc is stored inside the GO itself, not on the SD-card, but your GO know what map it is activated for. _________________ Gunnar Nystul, Forum Admin, TomTom Forum Norway and Nystul Navigasjon |
