Medion PNA175 problems

Hopefully someone can help, I have been having major problems with my PNA175 for some time, eventualy got hold of Medion and they talked me through the delete your flash disk remedy, which seemed to sort things out for an hour or two, now I am getting the scenario where the thing either hangs halfway through installing the software, or wont install a particular file (not always the same one), or installs the software and cant find the maps, or installs the software and maps but then hangs halfway through calculating a route, or does everything OK then hangs halfway through a journey.
The Medion man seems to think the card reader on the motherboard is b******d which means it has to go back. I'm not available for a courier to pick it up for nearly two weeks. Just wondered if anyone has similar problems and if there is some magical fix.
