Not sure where else to go for this info. I basically want a proper holder for my phone that also charges it while its in the cradle. As most of you know running TT absolutely saps the battery. I have a car chager lead, but I am after a set-up that allows the phone to be charged once I slot it in the holder, I don't want to faff about with pugging in(and removing) the lead seperately.
I have e-mailed 4 different online retailers asking about the Nokia branded CR-1 holder and CK-7W car kit, asking specifically if the car kit will also charge the phone. Two said no it won't and the other two said yes .
I contacted Nokia directly (after being blackmailed into joining "Club Nokia" so I can get cheaper call charge rates) and the rep said that yes the holder allows the phone to be charged. I asked her to clarify a bit more "does she mean the holder allows a charger lead to be plugged in or does she mean the holder will handle charging when combined with the car-kit". She went a bit quiet and just repeated what she said before then suggested I go to a high street phone shop and they will be able to sort it. very good advice, except that I want to install the kit myself.
Is anyone using the above combo and can confirm that the CK-7W (or CK-10) and CR-1 does in fact charge the phone?. |

Hi I use the CK-7W carkit with tomtom mobile 5 with a nokia 3230.Yes the phone charges when in the cradle and even better it mutes the radio for the voice commands. With the cradle you plug the pop port lead into the bottom of the cradle (you leave it permantley in). Hope this helps :D

Hi Gadgetboy,
I have the same set up as you: 3230 with TomTom Mobile 5, and the Nokia CK-7W. However, I have a bizarre problem: When using the POP Port connector, I only get the first set of voice instructions from TomTom, then nothing.
If I go back to the phone menus, or make a call, everything comes through the CK-7W pop port with no problems. This kind of points towards an issue with the TomTom software? What version of TomTom Mobile are you running?
If I use Bluetooth, everything works fine!
My details are:
TomTom version 5.000 (419)
Nokia 3230 Firmware details (dial *#0000#):
V 3.0505.2
19-02-05
RM-51
Kind of disapointed, as I wanted a "no-wires" solution, now I have to charge my mobile via the cigerette lighter
Any Pointers / Version details would be a great help!!
Cheers,
O11y. |
