Maybe they have a licenceing issue for maps over there that they cant sell to the uk direct to the customer.

I know a company called Meade who will not sell to a UK customer direct unless its throught a distributor so maybe its the same thing.

Did you try the USA site, they might be able to sell it to you direct or if you know someone in the states then through them, you pay direct by Credit card they send it to your friend in the states?

NEWBIE question: If there was someone in the US who wants a Europe map or vice versa, would there be any activation restrictions to share maps?

I haven't seen any MioMaps as torrent files but would it be possible to download a map and work on the Mio units? I have seen TomTom Nav 5.1 available but not sure if it works.
