I wonder if anyone can help.I have recently bought an HP Ipaq Rx 3715 PDA upon which i have installed the latest Tom Tom 5 Software.I have also purchased the latest Bt 338(Sirf Chip 111) Bluetooth reciever.
I can pair the two by bluetooth no problem and i know the reciever is working because when i check it with the GPS info software it is showing the reciever picking up the satellites. The problem occurs when i open the Tom Tom software,no matter what i do it does not recognise that the Gps reciever is connected, even though i have selected the right com port it just will not configure the reciever.I have tried everything i know but to know avail.I would be very grateful if there is anyone who can help me,and give me some ideas before i resign myself to taking it all back and trying something else.......... Confused

Try these settings, but do make sure that you wait several minutes after trying them or any others as TT5 takes ages to work, just usually says No GPS Device or No valid GPS Signal, but you need to wait, if you then see the sats on the earth map being drawn then it will work if you wait long enough.

Bluetooth Serial Port COM6, & other setting is on NMEA 0183v2 Bluetooth.

When configuring the GPS in tt select "other wired gps" as the type, then select the correct bt port, finally the baud speed at which your receiver works 4800 or 9600 are a good starter, if its a laterst device you might get away with a higher speed, it seems strange selecting wired for a bt device but its worked for me and loads of others - Mike

Thanks for your help Guys,i finally got it working this morning after contacting Gpsforless over the phone and got some very helpful advice.
You were correct mikealder,i should of selected "other wired Gps" and not "another bluetooth device" as i had been doing.Seems a bit strange seeing as i am using a bluetooth reciever, still it's working so thanks again for all your help.

Glad to hear you got up and running - I know its bizzare that you select "other wired GPS" when its a Bluetooth connected device, caught me out for a few frustrating moments, until I found the answer, have you tried sorting out the camera warnings and sound files yet, with the ones from this site - a massive improvement on the standard TT offering and more upto date - Mike

Fot the camera DB try this link, you get to it from the home page of this site:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras.php
For the additional warnings (and some new voice files/ menu customisation set-ups) try having a look around this site:
http://www.rayflanagan.co.uk/
If you get stuck give me a shout its well worth doing as it enhances the overall feel of TT - Mike
