POI distances

i have downloaded and installed (successfully) many of the POI's from this site but i am confused. when i search the list of POIs (UK motor racing circuits for example) the text list show a distance in the left hand column. should this be the distance from my current location ?? it is not correct. for example home to rockingham shows 54.0M but when i plan the shortest route it is actually 63.5 miles ?? . i have tired with other POI categories and they are all wrong ?? help !

Hi jcb2,

No, this is correct. The distance you are seeing in the left hand column is indeed the distance from your current location, but it is the distance as the crow flies.

Therefore, when you actually plot a route to the POI, the distance of the route will always be a bit different to the first figure as the new figure is the driving distance route.

Hope this clears up any confusion.

thanks - so basically this info in the left column is totally useless unless you are using the GPS on your microlite or glider !!! he he he
