Have I got this correct:-
It costs about £40 pa to subscribe to Tom Tom Traffic. On top of this you have a GPRS connection fee, and then the cost of downloading the data.
If I have got this correct (which I probably haven't) what is the average cost of a "traffic data transaction"? |

I'm on Orange - it costs me £3 maximum per month.
My main use is for a 2.5 hour (170 mile) journey to and from work each week. |

I am on O2 monthly contract and I spoke to them this week to try and work out the potential cost of using TOMTOM Plus. I get 100k of free downloads and thereafter the cost is £2.35 per Mb.
I don't think the cost will be too much in my case, but it may be higher for pre pay etc. I am on the Plus one month trial and am travelling from the NE of England to France so will try it out then. I have downloaded a couple of colour schemes etc to test it, seems ok.
One point though, I tried the Weather option for a local point and also for Paris and although my mobile connected to TOMTOM, I got no weather forecast, anyone else had problems with this service, do I need to do something else to get it?.

I am on an Orange contract with 4Mb included per month. I have never exceeded the included data and I have been using traffic for a few months now.
The accuracy of the traffic info will vary greatly depending on where you are travelling. I have been standing still in a horrible traffic jam on the M25 that never showed on the system. Other times it shows delays over the QE2 bridge which dont seem to be there. I have heard reports though that in some areas particularly down the M1 the info is very accurate. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Chris
Please tell me that is for the month and not per data transaction !!!
If per month it would be about £6 including the Tom Tom annual charge.
That's not bad. But do you have an allowance like Mike B and your £2.50 is over and above that ?
Are you finding the traffic information accurate ? Mike B seems to have different experiences.

Hi,
Firstly it's for the month so don't panic .
I'm not sure what I get on my tariff but it loos like that's for the first Meg of data.
The accuracy of the data is dire. Took the family out this weekend. Accident on the way there and one on the way back. Traffic didn't pick either up.
I've had more sucess using the roadblock function when it comes to avoiding jams!!
Saying that though it has worked once in the last month and it's impressive when it does.
Haven't decided whether it's worth the cash yet.
Hope this helps. _________________ Thanks,
