Hi all,
On Friday i went to Hafords to buy a Tomtom go 300 for £369 as i had a £50 money off voucher, they were out of stock though and they told me that they are having problems getting them in. They then offered me a Tomtom go 500 but i told them i couldn't afford it as it was over £100 more. So..... They gave it me for a bargain price of £400 and if that wasn't good enough they also let me use the £50 voucher i had..
So i am now the proud owner of a Tomtom Go 500
It's great and the handsfree come in handy too :D
Anyway, all i have done is basicly plugged it in and gone.. Now do i need to update it at all as some of the roads are coming up unnamed yet they have been there for years??
Also, should the text message thing work on it?? The phone calls come through fine but when i get a text nothing happens??
cheers Guys 8) |

HI Sway,
Not bad you did well there :D
Firstly your map will be the latest version - yes there are issues with it (you will never get a 100% accurate map) - you can report them on a thread on this forum (It's just above in the announcments)
Secondly - What phone are you using?, not all of them are supported. I have this issue with my Nokia 6230. _________________ Thanks,

Hey, thanks :D
I have a Samsung one, i think it's a D500 or something.. I'm not too fussed about the texts to be honest, if it's that important then i'm sure the person will call me :D |

I think texts can be a little distracting when you're anyway.

Have you plugged the GO into your computer and backed up the SD card? If not, do it now before you try and add phones and things. It's the only copy you have - make it safe.
Otherwise, if card gets corrupted you will have to get a new one from TomTom - need proof of purchase, takes several days, lots of hassle!! _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

I'd keep your first one safe.
then back up periodically when you change stuff - otherwise it will be a real pain to get all your settings back.
You can also just back up your config. _________________ Thanks,
