Please help, bad problems

I am a complete newbie at this as it's my first gps try.

For my XDA I have just purchased the Qstarz bt-7770 gps receiver (little black one with blue world symbol on top) from ebay along with a copy of tomtom 5 (must admit it's a bootleg but running)

I have managed to get the to linked together but it always seems to read the gps position around about 100m out. As you can imagine when trying to do a route it's all over the place, when I'm going up my local main 'a' roads it says I'm travelling in the housing estate nearby and is constantly telling me to turn around.

Any ideas what might be causing this. Is it most likely the gps unit or software??

I would like to know so I can then replace either with better ones but unfortnately I don't know anyone with either to try.

please do not discuss issues with illegal copies of TTN5 in this forum.

Your receiver may just be broken. You buy cheap, you buy twice...
