Ok guys, the acid test for TT5 & XDA2i users is upon us. O2 have posted their ROM update to ROM 1.11.0 & EXT IMAGE: 1.11.162 (Radio Image remains unchanged . . .

O2 say . . . Major new items in this release include:
• O2 MusicPlayer(for use by O2 UK customersonly)
• Updated O2 Active UI
• General operational updates, improving device stability and connectivity management
The update must be very good because the Radio Image remains unchanged?

So as I have absolutely nothing to lose as TT5 fails miserably on the old ROM image of the XDA2i Im going to install and try TT5 from fresh . . .

I'll post the findings1 (wish me luck)

(get the ROM upgrade from http://www.my-xda.com/downloads/XDA_IIi_Upgrade_v1.11.162.exe and the instructions from http://www.my-xda.com/downloads/Xda_IIi%20_1.11.162_upgrade.pdf)[/url]

I have now gone into corporate mode and done a clean install & soooo far with a bt device it hasn't locked up (done 3 traffic updates) it hasn't locked ,will have to wait and see after lunch wether it locks up with wired gps or blue tooth while on the move

Well my findings are as follows
new rom and bt device locks up
new rom device and wired gps locks
well it seemed to work once or twice but then locked up again
the best i could get out of it was to remove pda from cradle wait for the gps signal to go then try update sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't ,so on the whole it's a miserable failure ,,lets just hope the next 1 will work ..as i've read elsewhere that this was just a start rom there should be another soon (holdsthumbstightlysmilie)

I installed the latest O2 ROM update and installed TT5.10 as a fresh install.

Guess what? TT5 locks up on traffic update

Then hard reset, to make sure every thing is clean and this time selected corporate installation (which requires manuall GPRS settings)

Guess what? TT5 locks up on traffic update

I have wasted way too much time (and a little money) with this and frankly TT do not deserve my business so can anyone rate an alternative GPS system with upto date maps?

. . . why TT could not allow us to purchase updated maps for TT3.07t Ill never know

My letter to Which? is in the post!
