hi i have tried and tried to get the new sounds to work on my mio 168 with tom tom 5 but i am having problems tried copying data.chk to my tom tom directory olso the voice dir and the root dir i am running ver 5.0 and i have tried 4890, 2850 for a pocket pc and tried 4890 for a palm does anyone know where i am going wrong?

HELP please!!!!

stop trying, start reading.

You have to use the file that is exactly for your build (probably 4890 for PPC) , and you have to replace the existing data.chk in the application folder. Everything else is just wasted time.

when you say the applications folder you mean the folder called tomtom?
if so i have tried this as there is not a folder called application

I have a MIO 168 with TT5 installed and my voices work OK. I assume when you say new voices that these are the warning sounds. If so you have to copy the data.chk ( the chk must be in lower case) to the Navigator folder which is insde the Program Files Folder on the ppc. If you mean the voice files such as Yoda or darth Vada or GB Jane then create a folder called Tomtom on the Storage card and put all the voices into it, they will still work. Dont give up nearly everybody is having problems like this, you will get there eventually. Wink

I have put the data.cchk file onto the mio itselff called it data.chk now i have no waarning ssounds
