Has anyone checked how accurate the speed indicator is on TomTom. I've tried the unit in several cars and in each case the Navigator suggests I'm going 4/5 mph slower than the car's speedometer.
Any idea which is likely to be reliable? |

TomTom is right, your speedometer is wrong. Please search the forums - there are a lot of threads aroudn that. _________________ Lutz

lbendlin is right. A car speedo is/can be affected by various factors such as wheel size, tyre profile, tyre pressure, gearing etc. GPS is accurate, without exception. |

The main thing here is that when a speedometer is designed and calibrated it has to meet legal requirements that says it has to read upto 10% higher than actual speed, above 30mph.
This allows for other things like tyre wear, etc without reading less than your actual road speed.
