I have a Mio 168, which works fine in the UK and Europe, i.e it satisfactorily picks up the required number of satellites. However, I took it to the Singapore and Sydney, Australia earlier in the year, and it did not pick up a single satellite in these two places. I would be most grateful if anyone could tell me whether anything can be done about this, or as I doing something wrong?

Have a chuckle and look up what the G stands for in GPS.
Anyhow, when you move the receiver over long distances when it is switched off (ie on a plane ride) it will be confused on wakeup and will require a minimum of 12 minutes uninterrupted sky view to reload the base tables. If you switch it on and start moving immediately this time can increase dramatically, up to the point where you think it will never get a fix. If you can, leave it on, leave it alone, and you will soon have a functioning receiver- anywhere in the world. _________________ Lutz
