Complete Novice Help/Advice Required Please

Would it be possible to fix a Brodit mount with built in amplifier to a screen suction arm? after reading the review I am thinking of buying this, or are their any better alternatives?

I have an Ipaq 5500, I have decided on the Fortuna Clip on GPS reciever.

After reading the Co Pilot 5 review by GPS World I thought this was the one I then read some of the reader reviews and am now very undecided.

Should I wait for the new Tom Tom 5?

I am not in a position to purchase something and 2 months latter buy something else because it wasnt right in the first place. I am prepared to save and buy the best I can afford but it must be reliable and fit for its purpose.

This is all very new to me I try and read all the information possible before purchasing, however there is no substitute for first hand advice from people who have used this equipment.
