Purple Grid K2 BT - Problems with locking onto signal

I have just bought the above BT receiver to work with my TomTom V3 Software on an HP Ipaq 4150.

I have been using TomTom up until now with the TomTom wired GPS receiver and it has worked perfectly usally with 8- 10 satellites. On start up it takes about 30 seconds to lock onto about 6 satellites.

I have paired the Purple Grid to my Ipaq and am using NMEA 0183v2 38400 on com port 6. I have left it the same postion that I had my wired receiver for over 30 minutes under a clear sight of the sky but all I am getting is 6 weak signals and about 4 satellites locked on.

Today I tried to use it on a journey but after waiting for 10 minutes in the car it failed to get a single lock. Turned off the BT and plugged in my wired receiver, and in about 15 seconds it had 6 locked on satellites. As before it was in exactly the same position as I had the BT.

At the moment the Purple Grid BT is not of much use, and a waste of money. Before I return it has anybody got any ideas on how I can improve its performance?
